Maribel Pérez (nata il 29 gennaio 1976), meglio conosciuta con il nome d’arte Belle Perez, è una musicista e cantautrice belga-spagnola.

Nata a Neerpelt da genitori spagnoli come María Isabelle Pérez Cerezo, la cantante fiamminga è stata scoperta per i suoi talenti musicali da Patrick Renier durante un talent show locale nel 1997 all’età di 21 anni. Nel 1999 ha partecipato alle preselezioni belghe per l’Eurovision Song Contest e da allora la carriera musicale di Belle è decollata. Ha iniziato con la musica pop, ma nel 2002 ha cambiato stile verso il latino/pop e si è esibita dal vivo con la sua band “Baila Perez”. L’album che ne è seguito è stato un successo immediato ed è rimasto in cima alle classifiche belghe per diverse settimane.

Dal 2006 ha raggiunto un livello relativamente alto di fama nel suo Belgio natale e nei Paesi Bassi. Nel frattempo è diventata anche presentatrice di un popolare programma musicale olandese. Perez ha partecipato alle selezioni belghe per l’Eurovision Song Contest 2006, classificandosi al 3º posto. Il suo ultimo album Gotitas De Amor è stato pubblicato il 23 agosto 2006. Nel dicembre 2006 ha pubblicato il suo quarto singolo di “Gotitas de amor”, intitolato “Hoy (Le pido a dios)”, una ballata.

Il 5 maggio si esibirà in un altro concerto “Mega Latino” al “Sportpaleis” di Anversa. Si esibirà davanti a circa 15.000 persone. Secondo alcuni articoli sul suo sito dei fan, sta pianificando di pubblicare un CD in Germania, Austria e Svizzera la prossima estate. Ha già firmato un contratto. Secondo alcune voci “El mundo bailando” sarà il primo singolo in Germania, Austria e Svizzera.

Prima dell’estate pubblicherà un altro singolo dal suo album “Gotitas De Amor” in Belgio e Paesi Bassi, che sarà “Amor Latino” e ha raggiunto in Belgio la posizione 11.

Nel giugno 2007 ha pubblicato il suo primo album “Gotitas De Amor” e il primo singolo “El Mundo Bailando” in Germania, Austria e Svizzera. Nel frattempo ha registrato un nuovo singolo chiamato “Djolei! Djolei!” che è stato pubblicato il 15 giugno 2007 in Belgio e Paesi Bassi. Ancora una volta è una canzone per la prossima estate e quindi punta di nuovo al suo prossimo Radio 2-Summer-Award-Trophy nell’agosto 2007. Si è anche posata due volte per la rivista maschile FHM.

In 2008 Belle Pérez and her spouse Mario Winters, with whom she had been a couple as early as 1995 and whom she married in the deepest secret in 2000, broke up after an 8-year’s wedding. Some months afterwards Belle met 25 years old Dutch jewel designer Wouter van der Horst in Antwerp with whom she has been going steady until now.

Belle released her new album “Gipsy” in 2008 and made the top10 in both Belgium and The Netherlands. Appreciation in The Netherlands for her music grows and tours bring Belle more to there than to Belgium. In 2009 Belle celebrates her 10-year career. A book has been published containing her ups and downs in the last 10 years and a DVD has been released of a concert without any audience. At the same time a big concert was announced for the fall of 2009. However in September 2009 it was announced that the big concert originally planned is downsized: a smaller concert hall but a sold out crowd. Belle and her team state that she will go in a new direction with her music and that she wants to try new international adventures. She separates from her manager at that time, Patrick Renier, and goes on with Hugo Foets who also has been in the background.

For the second year in a row she is asked to be a special musical guest in the Holiday on Ice Shows. In 2008 she did them in Belgium, in 2009 in The Netherlands. After these shows she will focus on her new tour in The Netherlands: a theater tour “Latino Mundial”.
